Ashes 2015, 4th Test: Stats highlights from Australia's collapse at Trent Bridge
Chain of records was made on the opening day of fourth Ashes Test at the Trent Bridge. Starting from Stuart Broad, as he joined the 300 wickets club early in the morning and clinched his career-best bowling figures of 8 wickets by giving away just 15 runs.
Australia looked in pressure from the first ball, they kept losing wickets in short intervals and were eventually bowled for 60 runs after playing just 18.3 overs in the first session of Day 1. The kangaroos were helpless on the opening day of Test as England piled on more misery to finish the day with a 214-run lead. The morning session was dominated by Broad alone, as he carved through Australia's batting at will.
After getting all out before lunch, Australia's bowlers were cracked by the English batsmen especially Joe Root who reached his career's 8th century. He was well supported at the other batting end by Jonny Bairstow who scored 74 runs before giving away his wicket to Josh Hazlewood before the close of play.
The Australian players were barely left with any energy to celebrate by the end of the day, Mitchell Starc was the pick of the bowlers as he scalped 3 home team's wickets. England were 274 for 4 at stumps, leading the Aussies by 214 runs as Mark Wood was sent in as a nightwatchman.

- 6.1 - England bowled these many overs when Stuart Broad picked up his fifth wicket. No bowler before Broad had picked up more than three wickets in the first 6.1 overs of an innings.
- 214 - This was the third biggest lead by any team on the opening day of a Test.
- 1 - Joe Root is the first batsman to score a century on day 1 of an Ashes Test batting in the 2nd innings of the match. He also is now the youngest England batsman to score 3 Ashes hundreds.
- 8 - Root scored his eighth century and now he has the most Test 100s for England before 25 years age. Only Alastair Cook (9 century) has more.
- 111 - Australia were all-out in 111 balls (18.3 overs). ENG took the first inns lead in exactly 18.3 overs.
- 8/15 - Jim Laker is the only England bowler to return better figures than Broad (8-15) in an Ashes Test. Laker had 10-53 and 9-37 at Manchester in 1956
- 14 - In Australia's total 60 runs, 14 were added through 'extras' from England bowlers and that was the highest among the batsmen scores. Last occasion of 'extras' the highest scorer in a Test inning was in 2004 - Eng 339 vs West Indies (extras 60).
- 19 - Stuart Broad took 5 wickets in his first 19 balls to become quickest 5 wicket-taker in Test history along with Ernie Toshack (Australia v India, Gabba 1947).
- 79 - The last time each of Australia's top-7 batsmen were dismissed for 10 runs or less in an Ashes Test was 79 years ago at Brisbane in 1936.
- 0 - Chris Rogers made the first duck of his Test career, in his 46th innings.

- Australia's score of 60 today in the first innings is their 7th lowest score in Test history, and their 2nd lowest in the last 79 years. The only time they were bowled out for less in this period was against South Africa - 47, in Cape Town, 2011.
