On the 3rd day of what is considered the most prestigious Test tournament in cricket, Australia added 163 runs to their total to end the innings at 328.

Captain Steven Smith and Shaun Marsh started the day well, with Marsh going on to score 51 runs before tumbling to a Stuart Broad deliver. Smith scored his 21st Test century to revive Australia from 76 for 4 and finished not out on 141 runs.

The English team faced some initial disaster in their innings when they lost 2 wickets for just 17 runs, but Joe Root played sensible cricket to make sure that they didn't lose any further wickets. The English team ended the day with 33 runs on the board for the loss of 2 wickets, having played 16 overs.
