At least two more years for Sachin Tendulkar

MUMBAI, INDIA – APRIL 02: Sachin Tendulkar of India celebrates his teams win with his daughter Sara and son Arjun during the 2011 ICC World Cup Final between India and Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium on April 2, 2011 in Mumbai, India.

Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar has set his sights on completing 25 years on the international cricket scene.

39-year-old Tendulkar passed year number 23 on Thursday and has expressed his desire to play for at least two more years before he finally calls it a day.

Assuming that Sachin does go on and play another two years, he would have played in seven World Cups, becoming the first batsman to do so. The record of six that he currently possesses is shared with Pakistani batting maestro Javed Miandad.

Another record that could be broken in that period is crossing the fifty century mark in ODI cricket. He has 49 at present.

In an interview with Divya Bhaskar, the Mumbaikar has said he will pursue his target of playing for another two years if he is able to keep fit. He is also just 1232 runs short of becoming the highest run-scorer in the domestic format of the game. Sunil Gavaskar holds that record with 25834 runs to his name.
