India vs Australia 2019: 3 Australian players that India need to be wary of
The stage is all set for another challenging series between India and Australia.
On the one hand, the Aussies will be looking to avenge their recent defeat and strive to come up with their final playing squad for the ICC World Cup 2019. On the other hand, India is ready for the encounter and might experiment with fresh talent during the series.
The recent Big Bash League would have aided the Australian think tank immensely. The selectors have been able to pick quality and in-form players, thus making this tour exciting and worth watching.
Here is the list of the Australian players that might prove lethal for India.
1. D'Arcy Short
The star batsmen for the Hobart Hurricanes scored a total of 637 runs in 14 matches this BBL season. Not just that, Short also took 10 wickets and was awarded as the Player of the Tournament.
Short was not able to fully showcase his skills in the previous encounter against India, but is currently in blistering form. Short usually starts as an opening batsman for the Aussies, and can prove to be lethal if he sticks to the crease.
It goes without saying that the Indian bowlers will be looking to dismiss him early.
2. Marcus Stoinis
Marcus Stoinis displayed some spectacular performances during the Big Bash for the Melbourne Stars. He was second in the race for the Player of the Tournament.
He was on a 3-match streak where he took more than 2 wickets and scored above 40 runs consecutively for the Stars.
Stoinis is a physically gifted player and an expert all-rounder. Once he gets set on the pitch, it becomes a tedious job for the bowler to take his wicket.
Aaron Finch, the Aussie captain, is also optimistic about Stoinis' performance, and believes that his contribution to the team is vital.
3. Jhye Richardson
In the previous series against India, Jhye Richardson grabbed the world's attention by dismissing captain Virat Kohli in the first ODI. Seeing his terrific performance, he was selected in each of the ODI matches and was the highest wicket-taker in the series.
The right-arm-fast bowler proved reliable in Australia: However, he is not familiar with the pitches in India, which would require time to adjust to. Once accustomed to the conditions, he can certainly start working his magic.
India are currently one of the strongest teams in the world but in order to remain consistent, they need to sense the strengths and weakness of the opposition beforehand and work out a plan accordingly.
