Australia vs Bangladesh to face unexpected twists from Cyclone Marcia

Brad Haddin talks about the possible playing eleven against Bangladesh

Australia known for its speed bowlers might face a tough decision before the match against minnows Bangladesh. The Aussies who have been in fine form coming into the ICC World Cup enjoy ripping apart their opposition with the bowling speed of Mitchell Johnson, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins, will need wait till the Cyclone Marcia sobers down to confirm their place in the team.

Due to the carnage created by Cyclone Marcia the Australian team have taken the necessary precautions and have moved their team training into an indoor facility. The Cyclone which is due to pass through the Queensland area is expected to hit the Gabba ground on Friday as a Category 5. Due to which the match might have to postpone. The rain from the cyclone would affect the integrity of the pitch, due to which both teams are at the edge of their seats to see what nature holds for them when the covers come off

According to what wicketkeeper Brad Haddin reported to (AFP) this Thursday “All the weather has done has delayed the naming of the team. We are not sure what we are going to get when we pull covers up.”

The change in weather has also proposed the benching of Mitchell Starc and bringing on Pat Cummins, who will be the only change to the bowling line-up that took down the English with a 111-run victory at Melbourne in their debut match of this campaign. Haddin confirmed the possibility of Pat Cummins making the team, and also said that it might not have taken place considering the weather stayed put.

He later on confirmed that the only person that was going to be in the starting lineup would be Michael Clarke, who was set to start in the opening match against England, but was rested due to the after effects of his hamstring problem.

The person that might have to give way for Clarke would be George Bailey, although there are few who would rather prefer Shane Watson being taken off due to his duck out against England, which they eventually went to win.

Bangladesh’s game plan, on the other hand, would be to try and hold their ground and try to win against the Aussies, as nothing much is expected of them against the mighty hosts. But a win against Australia would be a huge confidence booster for them, who won against Afghanistan by a fair margin on their debut match.
