Australia vs India 2018-19: 4 surviving members from India's previous ODI against Australia at Adelaide
After becoming the first team from the sub-continent to win a Test series Down Under, the Indian team suffered a setback in the first ODI at Sydney, when they lost the game by a convincing margin of 34 runs.
A defeat in the first ODI now literally means that Indian team needs to win the second match to stay alive in the three-match limited over series.
The second ODI match between Australia and India will take place at Adelaide Oval in the beautiful South Australian cosmopolitan coastal city of Adelaide.
Surprisingly, the Indian team have not faced Australia in a one-day match at Adelaide Oval since the last 7 years, with the last face-off being on February 2012 in a Commonwealth Bank tri-series tournament, were Sri Lanka was the third team.
In that particular game, the Indian team successfully won the match in the last over by 4 wickets by chasing down the 270 runs target, on the back of a brilliant 92 run-knock by Gautam Gambhir.
Just four players who took the field during India's last ODI game against Australia in Adelaide are now part of Indian limited overs setup currently.
Hence, in this article let us look at those four surviving members:-
#4 Ravindra Jadeja
Having recently made a comeback in India's ODI team during Asia Cup last year, Ravindra Jadeja had a decent match, when India last played a ODI game against Australia at Adelaide Oval.
In that particular match, Ravindra Jadeja bowled an economical, yet fruitless, spell of 10-0-50-0. With the bat, Jadeja scored a quickfire cameo of 12 runs from 8 balls before being dismissed in the penultimate over the match by Xavier Doherty.
#3 Rohit Sharma
In 2012, the current Indian vice-captain and the holder of 3 double centuries in ODI cricket, Rohit Sharma was not even a regular member of Indian team in any formats of the game, due to a poor run of form in the starting phase of his international career.
However, after being promoted as an opener in the Champions Trophy 2013 in England, Rohit Sharma has gone on to become one of the best batsmen in limited overs cricket.
In India's last ODI game against Australia at Adelaide Oval, Rohit Sharma scored a crucial 33 runs from 41 balls and put on a partnership of 76 runs with Gautam Gambhir for the 4th wicket to lay the foundation for India's win.
