New Zealand cricket posted the injury update on Twitter, stating that both players were making good progress with their respective injuries as they trained at the Bay Oval.
At the start of the week, New Zealand coach Gary Stead spoke to the reporters and sounded quite optimistic of the pair's return to cricket before the Australia tour. He had said:
"I don't know if I'm really confident, but I'm quietly optimistic they're tracking where we want them to be."
On the final day of the first Test against England, Boult had reported pain on the right side of his ribs while De Grandhomme had strained a tear to his left lower abdominal muscle and therefore didn't bowl after lunch on Day 5. Matt Henry replaced Boult for the Hamilton Test while debutant Daryl Mitchell came in for De Grandhomme.
New Zealand play a three-Test series beginning December 12 in Perth followed by the Boxing day Test at the MCG. The final Test will be played from January 3 at the SCG.
