Australia and Pakistan have locked horns seven times across the eight editions of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, with the Men in Green and Gold leading the ledger 4-3.
Their first meeting took place during the Super-8 stage of the inaugural event, where Pakistan defeated a power packed Australian side by six wickets.
However, the Aussies fought back with disdain during the 2010 edition in the Caribbean, defeating the then T20 World Champions by 34 runs and three wickets respectively.
The three-wicket victory came in the semi-final of the 2010 event, thanks to a breathtaking death-over assault from Michael Hussey.
The Pakistanis retaliated by defeating the Aussies by 32 and 16 runs in the successive editions of the World Cup.
However, the 2021 world champions inflicted yet another scar on the Pakistani fans, as they once again defeated the Men in Green in a semi-final of the showpiece event, this time thanks to Matthew Wade, who smashed three consecutive sixes off Shaheen Shah Afridi at the death to seal the deal for his team.
Australia went on to defeat New Zealand in the final in Dubai to claim their maiden global title in the shortest format of the game.
