Video: Australian players impersonate Richie Benaud

Richie Benaud, the sad demise of whom has united the world of cricket in mourning, was an iconic voice associated with the game – such that all cricket fans have at some time or the other tried their hand at a Richie Benaud impersonation.

The British Prime Minister David Cameron paid tribute to the cricketer-turned-commentaror by impersonating him, recalling a text he used to send to a friend during Test matches – ‘it’s a pretty tough battle out there’. Cameron, like all other fans, owes a large part of his cricket vocabulary to the Australian legend.

This following video shows many Australian team members – including Ricky Ponting, Steven Smith, Michael Hussey, Mitchell Starc – trying their hand at impersonating Benaud’s style of speech.

While Hussey and Brad Haddin are the runaway winners, the ‘worst impersonator’ has to be a tie.
