Australian Prime Minister hosts Indian cricket team at high tea to mark New Year
Sydney, Jan 1: Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott Thursday hosted the Indian and Australian cricket teams for afternoon tea at his official residence to mark the beginning of the New Year.
The Indian team posed for an official photo session with the prime minister. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted pictures of the meeting on its Twitter handle.
The Indian team was dressed in its casual T-Shirts and trousers. Abbott hosted the teams at the Kirribilli House, his second official residence.
"Team India were honoured to be hosted by the Australian PM, Mr. Tony Abbott, for afternoon tea at Kirribilli House," The BCCI said on Twitter.
BCCI posted four photos of the get-together, including a picture of the two captains - Virat Kohli and Steve Smith along with Abbott.
Australia have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead after the third Test was drawn at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The fourth Test and final Test begins at the Sydney Cridket Ground (SCG) here Jan 6.
