Azhar set to reveal all about cricket's biggest match fixing controversy

India's former captain Mohammad Azharuddin is set to reveal the story behind cricket's biggest match-fixing controversy in his upcoming film, 'Azhar'.

Azharuddin, one of the World's hardest ball hitter and only Indian captain to lead the team in three different World Cups, will disclose the truth behind the speculation which surrounded and caged him for years.

Azhar, a film on the life and times of team India’s most successful and controversial cricketer will see its teaser being launched on the Indian Premier League (IPL) Finale, a whole year before its films release.

With Emraan Hashmi filling the shoes of the celebrated cricketer, Prachi Desai and Nimrat Kaur have been signed on to play interesting, key roles as well.

Mohammad Azharuddin is still the only batsmen in the world to hit back-to-back centuries in the first three Test matches of his career. He became the fastest centurion in the One Day International after smashed a century off 62 balls in 1988 against the formidable New Zealand attack.

Azharuddin is the only Indian captain to have led the side in three World Cups. He captained India in 1992, 1996 and 1999. Srinivas Venkataraghavan, Kapil Dev, and MS Dhoni led India in two editions each.

However, his career was always surrounded by controversies, from his comments like, "I am targeted because I am a Muslim" to his personal life where he married Naureen first, then tied the knot with famous Bollywood actress Sangeeta Bijlani. But both the marriages ended in the rocks.

But soon his career hit a low after he was banned for life in 2000 for his alleged involvement in a match-fixing scandal.
