Bangladesh vs England, 2nd Test: Stats: Bangladesh creates history
Bangladesh created history by beating England by 108 runs in the second Test at Mirpur and leveled the two-match Test series 1-1. Mehedi Hasan was the star of the show for Bangladesh as he scalped 12 wickets in the match.
Tamim Iqbal’s century set-up the match for the hosts on day 1 before a collapse saw them getting dismissed for just 220 with the last 9 wickets falling for 49 runs. Bangladesh bowlers hit back as they had the visitors reeling at 114-6 before the tailenders rescued them and got a 24-run first innings lead over Bangladesh.
In return, Bangladesh were off to a great start as few crucial knocks from Imrul Kayes, Shakib-al-Hasan, Mahmudullah and Tamim Iqbal helped them score 296 and set a target of 273 to win.
England were cruising to a win as they were 100-0 at tea on day 3 before the Bangladeshi bowlers took over. England lost all their 10 wickets for just 65 runs and handed Bangladesh a big win before the close of play.
