Barbados recall Fidel Edwards
Bridgetown (Barbados), March 26 (IANS/CMC) Sidelined pacer Fidel Edwards has been recalled to the Barbados squad for its 5th round WICB first-class match against Jamaica at Sabina Park in Kingston starting on Friday.
Edwards, who has not worn regional colours in 16 months, replaces veteran fast bowler Tino Best in a 13-man squad released by selectors, reports CMC.
His selection comes days after he had publicly expressed frustration with Barbados selectors over his exclusion from the squad for the Regional Four Day Championship.
The Barbados Today Online Newspaper quoted him as saying he was worried his career might be in danger and he was considering retiring.
Edwards, 32, has played 55 Tests and taken 165 wickets, but has been in and out of the West Indies team in recent years because of injury.
Barbados, which has won two matches, lost one and drawn the other, currently sits at the top of the table on 46 points, a single point clear of Windward Islands who defeated slender front runners Jamaica, knocking them into third place last weekend. Barbados plays Jamaica at Sabina Park from March 28 to 31.
