BBL: Samuel Badree signs for Brisbane Heat

Samuel Badree in action for the Red Steel in CPL

Caribbean T20 specialist Samuel Badree will be seen in action for Brisbane Heat in the upcoming season of the Big Bash League in Australia. The 32-year-old leg-spinner is widely recognised for his economic spin bowling in the powerplays and was last seen in action for Red Steel in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

The player was also part of the Champions League T20 winning squad of Chennai Super Kings. Overall, the Trinidadian has 102 wickets at an economy rate of 5.08 in the shortest format of the game.

Speaking about Badree, Heats coach Stuart Law said that the team was keeping track of the cricketer after their encounter in the CLT20 in 2013.

"Samuel bowled really well against us and throughout the Champions League and so we kept an eye on him after that. He's a different sort of leg spin bowler but very effective. We know we will have two world class spinners for the majority of the tournament and we believe Samuel will bring to the table with us what he has done around the world with such success.

"You look up his record with the West Indies and the domestic teams he has played for and it is first rate. We're sure he is going to be keen to tick the same box with us," Law was quoted as saying by Cricket365.com.

Notably, the former Big Bash winners were also closing in to sign former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff who made his T20 comeback earlier this year.
