The BCCI announced monetary benefits for retired players and umpires

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a monthly payment for the former domestic and International players. BCCI also revised the match fees for the current umpires in both domestic and international cricket.

These benefits are for the both the genders in the game. Let’s have a look at the benefits that BCCI will be giving to the much deserved players of their era. The initiative by BCCI is one of a kind and for the benefit of those who have served this country.

Test Cricketers who have more than 25 matches and retired before December 31, 1993, will get Rs. 50,000 a month.

Under the head, “Payment of Monthly Gratis”, BCCI on its website said, all Test cricketers who retired before December 31, 1993 and played less than 25 matches will receive Rs. 37,500 per month while those who retired on or after January 1, 1994 will get Rs. 22,500/month.

The female counterparts who have played more than 10 test matches will get Rs. 22,500 a month and those who have played 5-9 test matches will receive Rs. 15000 per month.

All cricketers who have represented India at the International One Days will get Rs. 15000 and the widows of all cricketers and umpires will receive the same as before.

Players who have played at least 10 Ranji Trophy matches before 1957-58 and those who have played first-class cricket matches to a number of between 25 & 49 up till 2003-04 will get Rs. 15000 a month.

However, those who have played more than 50 matches but less than 74 till the 2003-04 season will get Rs. 22,500 per month and gratis. Players who have marked attendance in more than 74 matches by 2003-04 will receive an amount of Rs. 30,000.

Talking about the umpires, BCCI decided that, all retired test umpires will get Rs. 22,500 whereas, all ODI officiating retired umpires will get Rs. 15,000 a month.

Other than the monthly gratis, BCCI also decided to give a one-time payment to some of the former players.

Also, Test cricketers who retired by 2003-04 but played more than 100 matches will get a one-time payment of Rs. 1.5 crores, those who played between 75 & 99 matches will get Rs. 1 crore whereas those who played between 50 & 74 matches will get 75 lakhs from BCCI.

Test cricketers who retired by 2003-04 but played between 1 & 9 matches, 10 & 25 matches and 25 & 49 matches will get Rs. 35 lakhs, Rs. 50 lakhs, and Rs. 60 lakhs respectively.

The one-time payment for those who played first-class cricket matches between 75 and 99 is Rs. 25 lakhs and for those who played more than 100 first class matches it is Rs. 30 lakhs.

A different head, “medical benevolent fund”, to all first class cricketers and umpires who stood for more than 10 matches are given a reimbursement of maximum Rs. 5,00,000 of medical expenses.

BCCI also informed about the match fees for the match officials, it is as given below:

Domestic One day and Test match umpires under the emerging umpire panel will receive Rs. 20,000 a day whereas others will get Rs. 15,000 a day.

Match referees, Umpire coaches, video analysts and assistant video analysts will each get Rs. 15,000, Rs. 15,000, Rs. 7,500 , Rs. 3000 respectively per day.

In the domestic T20 matches, the payment will be 50% of the match fees.  

Talking about the International matches, BCCI informed: ODI and T20 on-field umpires will get Rs. 1,82,500 per day. On the other hand, the third umpires and the fourth umpires will get Rs. 1,82,500 and Rs. 40,000 respectively per day.

The staging association will pay the scorers a sum of Rs. 10,000 whereas the Umpires in test matches will receive Rs. 3,00,000 and the fourth umpire will get Rs. 1,00,000.

BCCI said that it will be paying an infrastructure subsidy (50%) for the purchase of land and construction of a stadium to a maximum of Rs. 100 crores.

The above stated were the amendments made by the BCCI just before the Annual General meeting that was held today.
