Reports: BCCI call off India's tour of Zimbabwe citing players' fatigue

India’s tour of Zimbabwe called off

According to reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has called off India’s tour of Zimbabwe, which was supposed to take place in July and consist of three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and two T20 internationals, citing fatigue as the reason. There were reports on Sunday that the tour might be postponed to next year as a result of the BCCI not having resolved its issues with Ten Sports, which holds the broadcast rights for international cricket in Zimbabwe.

While that might have also been a stumbling block in the series going ahead, the BCCI seems keen on giving the players a rest ahead of a grueling season. The fact that India have succumbed to a series defeat in Bangladesh with one ODI still to play might have also played a part in the BCCI’s decision, with a lot of the players looking jaded and short of a gallop.

However, they would have still expected to beat Bangladesh pretty comfortably, having chosen a full-strength squad for the tour. Much to their surprise, though, Bangladesh have outplayed them in both ODIs with young guns like Mustafizur Rahman stepping up to the plate and it would not be a huge surprise if Bangladesh complete a clean sweep with a victory in the third ODI on Wednesday.
