BCCI clears the way for Team India to visit Bangladesh for Asia Cup

India will tour Bangladesh for Asia Cup

The officials of Bangladesh cricket board must be feeling relieved and happy today. Under the prevailing circumstances of political instability and violence since the last three months, teams of various countries were in a fix whether to go to Bangladesh or not.

According to a news item published in prominent newspaper Dainik Jagran today, BCCI has got no objection to sending the team to Bangladesh. After the New Zealand tour, India is supposed to tour Bangladesh for participating in Asia Cup and the World T20. The Asia cup is scheduled for February-March 2014.

Bangladeshi officials had made it clear that BCCI will play a key role in ensuring the event goes ahead smoothly. After India has agreed, Pakistan might also send across a security team to assess the situation. Bangladesh has already promised additional security to the Pakistani team.

It is pertinent to add that recently, owing to security concerns, a couple of teams including Sri Lanka had expressed doubts over whether to visit the country.

Bangladesh officials were worried that cancellation of the Asia Cup might ultimately lead to shifting of the World T20 as well. But with this decision, they are really happy.
