BCCI interim President Sunil Gavaskar gets feedback from team owners on IPL COO Sundar Raman

COO Sundar Raman’s fate lies on new BCCI interim President Sunil Gavaskar

Newly appointed Board of Control for Cricket in India’s interim president Sunil Gavaskar has a tough task to accomplish now, the task to clean up all the controversies and scandals surrounding the Indian cricket team.

According to NDTV, in his first act in his role, Gavaskar reached out to all the team owners including Vijay Mallya, Shah Rukh Khan and Mukesh Ambani in Dubai to get feedback on Sundar Raman, the under fire Chief Operating Officer of IPL.

The Supreme Court had previously ordered the removal of all the India cement employees, excluding the players and commentators. Following that, they have also given Gavaskar the power to take the final decision on whether to keep Raman as the COO.

In its verdict, the Supreme Court stated: “Gavaskar will have power to engage the services of such persons on whom he has confidence for work in connection with the IPL 2014. We also direct that it is for Gavaskar to decide as to whether Sundar Raman, Chief IPL Operator, would continue in the IPL, 2014 or some other arrangement has to be made in his place. In case of any difficulty, Gavaskar may apply to this Court for appropriate orders.”

The court had recently mentioned in its report that Raman had a role in passing on information for betting to former BCCI chief N. Srinivasan’s son-in-law, Gurunath Meiyappan.

Sunil Gavaskar was recently appointed as the new BCCI interim president after the Supreme Court had asked N. Srinivasan to step down.
