Best XI from Big Bash League 2018
Earlier today, the Adelaide Strikers defeated the Hobart Hurricanes to win the Big Bash League (BBL). The tournament witnessed some lusty hitting, wonderful fielding and brilliant athleticism in the field.
The Adelaide Strikers outplayed seven other sides to win the competition. From Jake Weatherald's century in the final to D'Arcy Short's brilliance right throughout the competition, the tournament had some great moments.
On that note, let us have a look at the team of the tournament.
Openers
D'Arcy Short (Hobart Hurricanes)
The southpaw D'Arcy Short lit up the tournament with his batting display. Short scored 572 runs at an average of 57.20 in 11 innings. Short went past Shaun Marsh's tally of most runs in a season. The flamboyant opening batsman was the reason for Hobart Hurricanes' success.
Courtesy his performances in the league, Short also received his maiden IPL contract as he was procured by the Rajasthan Royals for INR 4 crore.
The youngster made it to the Australian team soon after his phenomenal run in the league. Short has the ability to send the ball a long way and his technique against the spinners in the middle overs helped him score freely.
The 27-year-old can also roll his arm over for a few overs. Short will be the premier opener in this side.
Alex Carey (Adelaide Strikers)
The wicketkeeper of the winning team, Alex Carey played an integral role in his team's victory. Carey was spectacular behind the stumps this season. The left-hander scored 443 runs in 11 innings at an average of 49.22 and alongside Weatherald, put on some crucial partnerships for the Adelaide Strikers. He will open the batting alongside Short in our lineup.
