The Big Bash League is back after a brief hiatus, with table toppers Hobart Hurricanes taking on Melbourne Renegades in what promises to be a mouth watering clash on Thursday. In spite of Hobart's rampant run in the competition, they have failed against quality bowling attacks with the Renegades themselves being the first ones to inflict a defeat upon the them.

Both teams have already booked their place in the semi-final but enter this fixture with a fight for a home match left to be fought over, thereby adding more value to a highly anticipated clash.

Hobart Hurricanes:

Batting:

The opening pair of D'Arcy Short and Matthew Wade have been outstanding for the Hurricanes, with 567 and 487 runs respectively so far. The duo have constantly given their side a head start and with Ben McDermott and George Bailey to follow, the Hurricanes have a formidable batting line-up. McDermott loves playing against the Renegades as he already has a century to his name against the same opposition. Caleb Jewell has gelled in nicely and would be another player to watch out for.

Bowling:

Qais Ahmed has been roped in as the replacement for Tymal Mills and should slot directly in to side with Jarrod Freeman making way. One of the breakout stars of the year, Riley Meredith has recovered from illness while James Faulkner is set to miss the highly anticipated clash on Thursday. Jofra Archer has found form of late and will be to key to dislodging the likes of Aaron Finch and Marcus Harris.

Expected Playing XI:

Matthew Wade(C&WK), D'Arcy Short, Caleb Jewell, Ben McDermott, George Bailey, Simon Milenko, Jofra Archer, Tom Moody, Clive Rose, Qais Ahmed and Riley Meredith.

Melbourne Renegades:

Batting:

Marcus Harris' return to the side should give the Renegades a chance to field their strongest XI just before their crucial semi-final match next week. Aaron Finch has looked good in recent games and will be expected to put in a good performance.

The Renegades' best batsmen in terms of runs has been young Sam Harper with 279 runs. Mohammed Nabi and Daniel Christian have finished off matches on numerous occasions and will provide the impetus at the end.

Bowling:

Renegades' bowling has been top notch this season with Kane Richardson leading the way with 22 wickets to his name. Cameron Boyce and Daniel Christian have been very impressive with their arsenal of variations. Their bowling options have come in quite handy as well this season enabling them to lock up a semi-final spot. Jack Wildermuth could play instead of Tremain to beef up their batting and bowling.

Expected Playing XI:

Aaron Finch (C), Marcus Harris, Sam Harper(WK), Tom Cooper, Mohammed Nabi, Daniel Christian, Mackenzie Harvey/Beau Webster, Cameron Boyce, Kane Richardson, Jack Wildermuth and Harry Gurney.
