Bipul Sharma scores century in Dhaka Premier League

The Sunrisers Hyderabad all-rounder is currently playing in the Dhaka Premier Cricket League

Bipul Sharma, the all-rounder who plays for Mohammedan Sporting Club in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, scored a century in 86 balls against the Kalabagan Krira Chakra, helping his team to a total of 290 in 50 overs.

The all-rounder, who plays for IPL Champions, the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL scored exactly 100 runs from 86 balls in a middle order partnership with Bangladeshi international Mushfiqur Rahim who scored 75 of 129 deliveries. His innings featured some big hitting by the Punjab-born all-rounder who smashed six fours and eight sixes en route to his century until he was bowled by Kalabagan bowler Dewan Sabbir.

The Indian all-rounder played a vital part in IPL 2016 as the Sunrisers Hyderabad won the IPL for the first time. He scored 27 runs in a match winning partnership with captain David Warner as his sixes were crucial in turning the tide against the Gujarat Lions in the second qualifier.

Bipul Sharma is highly valued on the domestic cricket circuits for his left arm spin and middle order batting abilities. He infamously hadn’t scored any century or take any five-wicket hauls in his Ranji Trophy stint with Punjab since his debut in 2005. The streak was broken when he scored an unbeaten century on debut for Himachal Pradesh in 2013. He continued the good run by posting four consecutive 50 plus scores for his team in the same season.

In the shorter format of the game, Bipul Sharma had initially signed up for the ICL in 2007, which was not licensed by the BCCI. He returned to the official fold in 2010 when he was signed up by the Kings XI Punjab in 2010, where skipper Adam Gilchrist often asked him to carry out the holding role during the middle overs of the game.

The Kings XI dropped Bipul from the team for the 2014 IPL edition but got a lucky break when the Sunrisers chose him to replace Laxmi Shukla in the squad for the 2015 season. He played four matches, picking up three wickets for the Sunrisers and was again brought in for the 2016 season.
