Bollywood star Siddharth Malhotra takes the crease with Stephen Fleming and other Kiwis
Bollywood superstar Siddharth Malhotra tried his hand at cricket with some of New Zealand cricket’s finest products yesterday.
The rising star of bollywood is currently in New Zealand, after being revealed as the country’s new tourism ambassador. Siddharth chose to add some flavour to his New Zealand trip as he decided to pick up the cricket bat and play with former New Zealand cricketers Stephen Fleming, Simon Doull and Scott Styris.
The group attempted to ruffle a few feathers on the Isobel Glacier in Mount Aspiring National Park here in the heart of the country.
It was a first time experience for the three sportsmen too, as they have played a lot of cricket in packed stadiums before, but definitely not on snow. They took a early morning helicopter ride and obviously the excitement of landing in an icy snowfield was beyond comparioson. Even for Fleming, Styris and Doull this was a first time visit to the Isobel Glacier.
Stephen Fleming spoke to IANS, telling them that this was an experience of a lifetime for him while Doull and Styris mentioned their time to be wonderful. The cricketers judged Siddhart’s cricketing talent as decent, considering the level of cricket being played in India.
All four of them also tried out a jetboat ride together at the picturesque Skippers Canyon here. They enjoyed the rush that came with it, and how the jetboat was, at top speed, manouvered in between the narrow canyons.
According to Siddharth, both these activities, along with the skydiving and hot air balooning are definite attractions.
