More trouble for Srinivasan?

According to The Times Of India, in what could be a U-turn in the fortunes of BCCI president N Srinivasan, the Bombay High Court has declared the probe panel set up by the BCCI to be illegal, and has ordered a new panel to replace the current two-member team.

There has been much controversy about the panel, as it gave a clean chit to all the accused in the infamous IPL spot-fixing case, which included big-wigs like Rajasthan Royals‘ owner Raj Kundra, and more notably, Srinivasan’s son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan, who was arrested after he was linked with betting syndicates.

The IPL spot-fixing scandal broke out towards the fag end of the tournament, with a few Rajasthan Royals players – S Sreesanth being the most high-profile of the lot – being arrested on charges of spot-fixing. Since then, a host of arrests have been made, including bookies and actors.

Earlier, N Srinivasan had stepped down from his post owing to the involvement of his son-in-law Meiyappan in the scandal. However, the developments over the last few days hinted towards the India Cements owner claiming back his post.

But this new development could add to Srinivasan’s woes even further.
