Brad Haddin breaks world record of most dismissals by a wicket-keeper in a Test series
Australian wicket-keeper Brad Haddin set a new world record of most wicketkeeping dismissals in a Test series when he caught Joe Root off the bowling of Ryan Harris in England’s second innings of the fifth Ashes Test at The Oval on Sunday.
By taking the catch, Haddin surpassed Rodney Marsh’s record 28 dismissals in the 1982/82 Ashes in Australia. Marsh, now an Australian team selector, was on hand to applaud Haddin’s achievement.
“I’m delighted for Brad,” Marsh said. “I just wish he had have broken it by plenty more which probably would have meant we also won the series.”
Captain Michael Clarke too congratulated his wicket-keeper.
“It’s good for the old boy. It’s great to see him playing well. He’s really kept well throughout the series, and I’m extremely pleased for him,” Clarke commented on Haddin’s world record.
Here is the list of wicketkeepers with most dismissals in a Test series:
