Brad Hogg set to switch Big Bash League teams

Brad Hogg is set to leave the BBL team Perth Scorchers

Brad Hogg, the mercurial Australian all rounder is set to switch Big Bash League teams after having represented the Perth Scorchers with distinction since 2011. Hogg came out of retirement to represent the Scorchers 5 years ago, going on to become their most successful bowler having picked up 46 wickets at an average of 21.82. He has also enjoyed success in the Big Bash League, having inspired the Scorchers to back-to-back titles in 2013-2014 & 2014-2015.

Hogg, a very popular figure wherever he travels is set to join the Melbourne Renegades, if reports are to be believed. Hogg had one of his poorer seasons this previous year, only picking up 6 wickets but still remained a vital cog in Justin Langer’s team.

"Yeah, very disappointing. I know, but I can’t tell you where he’s going. But he’s leaving the Scorchers. I’m really disappointed about that. What can I say? I’m personally disappointed, professionally disappointed, but it’s his decision and life goes on. In my opinion he’s made the wrong decision, that’s okay, that’s not my business” said Justin Langer, coach of the Scorchers.

Langer, good friends with Hogg, laments the fact that the all-rounder has made his decision to leave the Perth franchise, but maintains that it won’t affect their friendship. Langer further adds that Hogg had a future in the franchise, in various roles over the next 5 – 10 years.

Now, a sprightly figure at 45, Hogg adds plenty to any franchise on the field and in the dressing room. He has played a total of 125 T20 matches, picking up 125 wickets. He is pretty useful with the bat as well. Hogg has remained a constant figure at the IPL side Kolkata Knight Riders, where he has been a revelation over the years. If Hogg does go on to join the Melbourne Renegades, he will be the ace up their sleeve going into next season.
