Former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum and current England limited-overs skipper Eoin Morgan are all set to play in the second season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after making themselves available for the PSL draft.

Speaking about the new recruits, PSL chairman Najam Sethi said: "Brendon McCullum and Eoin Morgan are proven international stars who not only bring a wealth of international cricket experience but also bring invaluable leadership experience to the HBL PSL player roster."

Sethi further added that more big names will be announced in the upcoming days. Last season had seen international stars like Chris Gayle, Kevin Pietersen, Dwayne Bravo, Shane Watson etc. take part in the competition.

"While we have announced these two names, there are at least a dozen additional top-level signings that will be revealed in the coming days. It will be interesting to see how teams manage their retention and transfers given such quality additions to the player draft," he said.

A statement from the PSL mentioned that each team will be allowed to retain upto 16 players from their squads from last season with the retention window open until September 14th.

The statement read: "It was decided that the teams may retain up to 16 players from their existing squads. All players who were brought on board by a team, regardless of whether they played, are eligible for retention. The retention window will also provide teams with a chance to renegotiate with existing players and the window closes on September 14, 2016. The transfer window is concurrently open with teams in a position to leverage their draft picks and / or existing squads to find an ideal balance."

The second season of the league is set to take place in February 2017, with the salary cap for each franchise increased to $1.2 million per team. The draft will see Lahore Qalandars get the first pick as they finished at the bottom spot in the inaugural edition of the league.
