New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum has said that he is pleased with his team’s performances in recent months and is hopeful of a good showing at the World Cup. After defeating Sri Lanka 4-2 in an ODI series, the Kiwis continued their good form and beat Pakistan by 7 wickets yesterday.

The 33-year-old also praised Martin Guptill after the opener made 39 during the chase.

"It's a funny one, form. The boys have actually been hitting the ball. Guppy looks like he's not far away from a big score and I'm sure he'll take a lot out of this performance. Ross always finds ways to get runs. His batting against some pretty unusual bowling at times and the partnership with Grant was really meticulous," McCullum said.

McCullum was also happy with his fast bowling attack, which looks like one of the most lethal attacks in the world, going into the sport’s biggest event.

"We found we were able to get the ball to swing and ask some questions so it was a good improvement in a pretty short space of time," he said.

New Zealand and Pakistan face off in the 2nd and final ODI of their series on Tuesday at Napier.
