Brett Lee invites Sachin and Shahrukh for his movie screening

Brett Lee is all set to make his acting debut

Former Aussie speedster Brett Lee has invited Bollywood Badshah Shahrukh Khan and batting legend Sachin Tendulkar for the special screening of his upcoming film ‘Unindian’. Apart from Sachin and Shahrukh, Lee has also invited his ex-owner from Kings XI Punjab Preity Zinta.

“The screening will be before the release of the film here in India. We have invited a number of cricketers and Bollywood stars. We have invited Shah Rukh Khan, Sachin Tendulkar, Preity Zinta and others,” Lee told a news agency. On asked whether he was excited to get a chance to act he said, “The person you see on the cricket field playing is different. I have been a movie buff, I have loved watching blockbuster films. And now I had the chance to act in a film and I was excited about it,” Lee said.

The movie will mark Brett Lee’s debut in the field of cinema. Though technically an Australian film, the cast includes several Indians. He will be paired opposite Tannishtha Chatterjee and the film has been mostly shot in Sydney. Last week Brett had expressed his eagerness to watch the upcoming biopic on Sachin Tendulkar and when asked about making a biopic on himself Brett said,  “No not now. It is not exciting for me at the moment. I am focused on ‘Unindian”.

Lee and Tendulkar were the fiercest rivals when they faced each other on the cricket field and had many unforgettable duels playing for their respective countries, but that animosity has only been limited to the field.

We have seen many instances in the past where cricketers have tried their hands in movies or TV shows after calling it a day from cricket. From India, we have seen Sunil Gavaskar, Vinod Kambli, Ajay Jadeja, Syed Kirmani all trying their hand in full-fledged or cameo roles in Hindi movies. Former Indian bowler Salil Ankola also became a full-fledged actor after his career was cut short by injury and Brett Lee is the new entry in this category.

Making his Test debut in the home series against India in 2000, Brett Lee proved a vital cog in the Australian bowling line-up for several years. The trio of McGrath, Lee and Gillespie gave nightmares to batsmen around the world. To go with the pacers, they had the greatest spinner of all time Shane Warne in their ranks. They had a great batting line up too and were the undisputed leaders of cricket during that time.

Just like his impressive career, Lee would be eager to make an impressive movie debut too.
