Broad likely to miss India's ODI Series
England’s premium bowler Stuart Broad is likely to miss the remainder of the ODI series as poor weather in England keeps him away from India. Broad who had been rested for the first three matches, was scheduled to play in the final two matches, but unfortunately bad weather prevented him from leaving England to join his team in India.
England, who are in need of a bowler like Stuart Broad, must cope up with the existing squad to try and level the series. Stuart Broad knows sub-continental conditions better and England need him desperately to level the series. He has got great control over his line and length especially in death overs, and England of course will miss him.
Broad tweeted: “Gutted I can’t get to India. I’m off home with all my luggage at Heathrow. I’ll be waiting for the lads in New Zealand!!”
England one-day Coach Ashley Giles desperately wanted Broad for the final two matches against India. “It’s not ideal because we were hoping for him to come out here and, whether or not he played in one of the last two games, just do some prep for New Zealand,” England one-day coach Ashley Giles said. “But we have a bit of time in New Zealand and he’ll meet us there.”
Now, this is a great opportunity for England’s young talented bowlers who can be a threat to India’s strong batting line-up. Good option for England is they can pick Stuart Meaker who’s pace caused problem for India in the T20 Series. He can be very handy customer as the conditions in Mohali generally favour pace bowlers.
Broad, however would be available for the New Zealand Series starting on February 4. He will fly to New Zealand for the first warm-up match on February 4 and for Twenty20 Series in New Zealand.
