Champions League T20 2013: Mumbai Indians' camp starts on Friday

Ahmedabad, Sep 12 (IANS) Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Mumbai Indians will commence their preparation-cum-conditioning camp ahead of the Champions League T20 at the Sardar Patel Stadium here from Friday.

The 2011 CLT20 champions will undergo a five-day camp and then return to play two matches here on September 23 and September 27.

“Mumbai Indians had a great season in IPL 2013 emerging victorious. We are looking forward to begin our CLT20 campaign from where we had left. Ahmedabad is our new home ground during the league. This is the first time Mumbai Indians is setting its foot here and it would be exciting to play in front of our fans here in Gujarat,” said team mentor Anil Kumble.

Kumble will be joined by head coach John Wright, Robin Singh, Jonty Rhodes, Nitin Patel and Paul Chapman in the support staff.

Placed in Group A, the Indians will play their first match – also the tournament opener – against Rajasthan Royals on September 21 in Jaipur.

From September 23 onwards, the action will move here where they will take on a Qualifier (to be decided) followed by South Africa’s Highveld Lions on September 27. The last match of the group will be at Ferozeshah Kotla in New Delhi on October 2 against the Perth Scorchers.
