Will continue to entertain the fans, says Chris Gayle

Chris Gayle was picked up by the Karachi Kings during the PSL season 2 drafts

West Indian cricket star Chris Gayle is well known for entertaining his fans with the big-hitting skills and also for the atmosphere that he creates around him. The Jamaican is often regarded as a party animal by his team members who consider him as a zippy cricketer in the modern era.

The recently concluded Pakistan Super League season-2 draft saw the big left-hander being picked by the Karachi Kings. The team is owned by Salman Iqbal, the CEO of Ary Groups and Micky Arthur is the head coach. In an exclusive interview to the local news channel, Dawn News, the heavy hitter said that he was happy to be drafted by the Karachi Kings for the second season of PSL and will do his part to ensure that the team performs well.

"It's fantastic to be a part of the PSL a second time," he said.

The 37-year old said that he would continue to entertain his fans with the bat. "I just want to say, I love you all and thanks for the support. Chris Gayle will try and entertain you guys as much as possible and keep hitting sixes, and make you all happy at the end of the day," he was quoted as saying in the Dawn.

The Windies batsman said that it was disappointing that the Pakistani fans haven't been able to catch some international cricket in their country since the 2009 terrorist attacks on the Sri Lankan cricket team. He went on to say that he was thankful for the support and the love that they have shown towards him. "I appreciate your support... You've been with us through thick and thin," he said. Gayle said he was trying to learn Urdu too and hoped those who team him would only teach him 'good' words. "Don't teach me the bad words," he laughed.

Gayle said that he was very happy with the combination of the team and thanked Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik for drafting him. The Karachi Kings boast over a heavy hitting line-up which includes the likes of Kieron Pollard, Mahela Jayawardene and Dwayne Smith. In a press conference earlier that day, it was announced that former Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara will be leading the  side in the second edition of the PSL.

With the Pakistani fans deprived of international cricket, it was a great gesture by the big man to come out and make those statements.
