Chris Gayle names his daughter 'Blush'

Chris Gayle is blessed with a baby girl

The swashbuckling West Indian cricketer Chris Gayle has been blessed with a baby girl and has named his daughter ‘Blush’. Gayle left his Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore to rush back to the Caribbean to be with his partner for the birth of his first child this week.

He announced her arrival on various social media platforms within hours. Here is the Facebook post.

Gayle posted a photo of him and his partner Tasha on his official Facebook page and seemed quite delighted by the arrival of his baby girl.  However, he created quite a buzz by naming his daughter ‘Blush’, with the obvious reference being to the incident that had happened during the Big Bash League this season.

The explosive West Indian courted controversy when he asked the TV presenter Mel McLaughlin for a date and uttered “don’t blush baby” to the presenter who seemed quite embarrassed at the batsman’s sudden proposal.

The West Indian opener, known for his tongue-in-cheek humour, was having a chat with McLaughlin on the sidelines and he completely took the presenter by surprise when he said, “Your eyes are beautiful, hopefully, we can win this game and then we can have a drink after as well. Don’t blush baby.”

However, Gayle apologised the next day for his "simple joke" and McLaughlin said she had been left "embarrassed, angry and upset" by the interview. The opener said, "It was a simple joke, the game was going on. Entertainment, things get out of proportion but these things do happen."

Gayle wasn’t part of the RCB squad which lost to Mumbai Indians, due to his child’s birth. The Jamaican has had a terrible start to the IPL season as he has managed just a single run in the two games he has played so far.

People on social media websites are going ga-ga over the name that the southpaw has chosen for his baby girl and started a series of tweets.

We congratulate the colourful Chris Gayle and his partner for the arrival of their daughter.
