Chris Rogers to retire after the Ashes

Rogers has spent a lot of time playing in England

Australian Test opener Chris Rogers has confirmed that he will be retiring from International Cricket post the Ashes this summer in England. The batsman will turn 38 during the series and feels that this would be the apt time to leave the game especially in a country where he spent a lot of time playing county cricket.

"I'm very happy, I've been pretty fortunate to have this second go at it and have loved every moment of it, but time calls on everyone and I think it's nearly up for me," he told Fox Sports. "I think to go out in the Ashes and in England where I've played a lot of cricket is pretty fitting."

Rogers indicated last year that the Ashes would be his last assignment and in fact during the home series against India, he revealed that he considered retiring immediately after he got hit on the back of the head while fielding at short leg. He has played 20 Tests so far for Australia and would be playing a couple of Tests in the Carribean before flying to England.
