Confident of making a comeback, says Ruby Kanchi Warriors' AC Prathiban

Ruby Kanchi Warriors all-rounder AC Pratibhan addressed the media after the team's 48-run loss against the Dindigul Dragons in the India Cements TN Premier League on Tuesday, August 30, at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

Do you think you were a bit over cautious today?
Probably we were not. Early wickets forced us to be in a situation like that or else, if we had scored 30-40 runs in the powerplay, it would have been a different story altogether. Runs didn’t come easily and they bowled really well; all credits to them.

Were there any difference between this wicket and the one you played on earlier?
The wicket was actually better, it was a good Twenty20 wicket. We were in our process of doing whatever we had planned to do. We are very satisfied with our bowling because we executed our plans well. Yes there were excess of runs given, but that didn’t cause us to change from our plans.

They hit nine sixes in their innings. Do you think that made a difference?
Yes, this ground has a heavy outfield and boundaries don’t come easily. But our strength is to take the game till the 20th over. If we had batted a bit better, we would have come very close.

At half time, what was the talk in the dressing room? Were you happy with the target that was set?
Yes, we were confident and we were sure we could chase down the target. Our strategy was for top order to bat long, but somehow it didn’t click today. It is not about winning or losing, but it is important to play good cricket. They played very good cricket today and that made the difference. We could have rotated our strike better.

What are the takeaways from this match?
There are a lot of positives for us to take from this match and we executed our plans well. We have been fielding really well and that is a very good box to tick. Probably batting, but it is a matter of one good game and we can make a good comeback. It is a long tournament, there are five more games to go and you never know when your team peaks. When we peak, we will be a tough side to beat.
