AB de Villiers will be looking to pull his team to another victory

Team News:

The Barbados Tridents won their previous game in the CPL against the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by 25 runs and have now gathered 5 points in 4 matches. The Tridents bowling attack did a good job with Imran Khan being the pick of the bowlers, conceding 26 runs in his 4 overs and also picking up a couple of wickets.

The Trinbago Knight Riders meanwhile had beaten the Guyana Amazon Warriors in their previous match by 7 runs. South African Hashim Amla made a well composed 64 in 54 deliveries and was the top-scorer for the Knight Riders. All-rounder Anton Devcich was the pick of the bowlers for the Tridents, conceding just 17 runs in his 4 overs and picking up 2 wickets in the process.

Probable Playing XI:

Barbados Tridents:

Evin Lewis was replaced by Raymon Reifer for opening the batting for the Tridents but could manage to score only a single run in 6 deliveries. Steven Taylor opened alongside Reifer and did not make an impact on the game. Taylor has now played 4 matches in this season, managing to make only 42 runs so far.

Shoaib Malik was shifted to the No.3 position after scoring a fifty against the Patriots. Malik got off to a start and scored 16 runs but failed to convert his start to a big one for the Tridents. South African AB de Villiers and wicket-keeper Nicholas Pooran put on 60 runs for the fourth wicket in quick time, giving the Tridents the platform to reach a big total of 180. The Tridents will be hoping that de Villiers continues his top form against the Knight Riders.

Skipper Kieron Pollard scored 27 runs in his previous game at a strike-rate of 128 and will be rearing to go against the Knight Riders. West Indies all-rounder Imran Khan had a good game against the Patriots, picking up the important wicket of Brad Hodge and Tabraiz Shamsi.

Wayne Parnell gave another solid performance against the Patriots, picking up the wicket of Sheldon Cottrell whilst conceding just 26 runs in his 4 overs. Spinner Akeal Hosein and seamer Ravi Rampaul picked up 2 wickets each against the Patriots and most importantly contained the batsmen in the mid overs.

Probable XI: Raymon Reifer, Steven Taylor, Shoaib Malik, Nicholas Pooran (Wicket-keeper), AB de Villiers, Kieron Pollard (Captain), David Wiese, Wayne Parnell, Imran Khan, Akeal Hosein, Ravi Rampaul.

Trinbago Knight Riders:

Hashim Amla
Hashim Amla will be looking to provide the Knight Riders with another solid start

Star batsman Brendon McCullum was replaced by Anton Devcich in the previous game against the Guyana Amazon Warriors. South African batsman Hashim Amla reached yet another fifty in the domestic T20s, scoring 64 runs in 54 deliveries which included 6 boundaries. Amla is currently the top-scorer for the Knight Riders with 251 runs in 5 matches this season.

Colin Munro and Umar Akmal got starts but couldn’t get going for the Knight Riders.

Skipper Dwayne Bravo gave the Knight Riders a push in the final few overs, scoring 25 runs in just 8 deliveries, hitting 3 big sixes in the process. Bravo shined with the ball as well, picking up 2 wickets in his 4 overs while conceding 33 runs. Bowling all-rounder Kevon Cooper went for 33 runs in 3 overs but picked up a couple of wickets.

Devcich was the pick of the bowlers, giving just 17 runs in 4 overs and picking up a couple of wickets.

Spinners Sulieman Benn and Sunil Narine were economical in their 4 overs and shared 3 wickets between them. The Knight Riders have some good all-rounders in their team and can afford to include an additional batsman instead of a bowler with Bravo, Devcich, and Cooper doing a fine job in the bowling department.

Probable XI: Anton Devcich, Hashim Amla, Colin Munro, Umar Akmal , Dwayne Bravo (Captain), Ramnaresh Sarwan, Kevon Cooper, Denesh Ramdin (Wicket-keeper), Sulieman Benn, Sunil Narine, Yannic Cariah.

Prediction:  The Knight Riders will have the upper hand when it comes to the bowling department with Benn and Narine in good form and they will be favorites to win the game.
