CPL 2016: Barbados Tridents vs St Lucia Zouks - live streaming, team news, probable playing XI, prediction

AB de Villiers would look to extend his good run of form against the Zouks

Barbados Tridents are having a see-saw kind of a season and are placed mid-table with two wins and two losses. The Tridents lost their last game of the CPL 2016 against the Trinbago Knight Riders even after setting up an imposing target of 172 runs. Batting first, the Tridents put up a massive 172 runs on board courtesy a good all-round batting effort by their team.

Shoaib Malik led the charge from the front by scoring a breezy 47. South African AB de Villiers continued his splendid form in the tournament with yet another quick-fire 45 run knock in the middle. Meanwhile, skipper Kieron Pollard provided the innings with impetus towards the end by hitting some lusty blows in his unbeaten knock of 41 runs.

The Trinbago Knight Riders scripted an impressive win by chasing down the big total with more than two overs to go. The Knight Riders win should be largely credited to the power-packed batting performance by the ever consistent run scorer Hashim Amla and William Perkins. Hard hitting Kiwi batsman Colin Munro, well supported by Dwayne Bravo went on a rampage by scoring a blistering knock of 68 that took the game away from the Tridents.

The Tridents pacers Ravi Rampaul and Wayne Parnell proved really expensive as the opposition batsmen tonked them to all parts of the park. Meanwhile spinner Robin Peterson was the only bowler for the Tridents to make an impression with an economical spell, conceding just 23 runs in his 3.4 overs.

St Lucia Zouks are deceptively placed at the bottom of the table but have games in hand to move up the ladder. Coming at the back of two successive losses, the Zouks would like to get back to winnings ways. The Zouks lost their last game to the Guyana Amazon Warriors courtesy a lackluster batting display.

The Zouks would hope for a much-improved batting performance by their batsman who haven’t fired collectively as a unit. There was a top order collapse in their last game only to be recovered by ‘Mr. Cricket’ Michael Hussey who chipped in with a valuable 64 run knock. Hussey forged a good partnership with David Miller to give the innings some respectability, eventually setting up a below par target of 138 for the Warriors.

Defending 138 was always a daunting task and Amazon Warriors were up to the challenge from the very start with the dangerous Dwayne Smith and skipper Martin Guptill providing initial fireworks before Chris Lynn and Jason Mohammad demonstrated brilliant stroke play to take their team home. Australian all-rounder Shane Watson bowled in good areas for the Zouks which was reflective in his economic figures, conceding just 21 runs off his 4 overs.

Rest of the Zouks bowling attack lacked the much-required sting and looked pretty ordinary to unsettle the Warriors batsmen.
