CPL 2016: Guyana Amazon Warriors vs Jamaica Tallawahs: live streaming, team news, prediction, probable playing XI

Can Chris Gayle propel Jamaica to another win?

Team News:

The Jamaica Tallawahs were involved in a thrilling run-chase against the Trinbago Knight Riders as they registered their second win in this season. The Knight Riders set a mammoth target of 192 for the Tallawahs to chase and with Chris Gayle in the line-up, there was always some hope for the Tallawahs to achieve the target. The 36-year-old West Indian did not disappoint as he scored a hundred and helped the Tallawahs secure a win against the Knight Riders.

The Guyana Amazon Warriors won their previous game which was also against the Knight Riders. Australian middle order batsman Chris Lynn scored 77 runs in 43 deliveries to help the Warriors win their second game in a row. Pakistan seamer Sohail Tanvir and Australian leggie Adam Zampa were the pick of the bowlers for the Warriors.

Probable Playing XI

Jamaica Tallawahs:

Skipper Chris Gayle has had a fantastic start to this tournament after a mediocre season in the Indian Premier League. With a fifty and a hundred in his first 2 games, Gayle looks more threatening than ever. The Warriors would love to see the back of this man early in the innings. Chadwick Walton has been disappointing in his first 2 games, scoring 3 & 13 respectively.

Kumar Sangakkara has been playing in his preferred No.3 position, scoring 20 runs against the Knight Riders. The Tallawahs will hope that Sangakkara can find his form quickly with the bat. West Indies batsman Rovman Powell showed a glimpse of what he is capable of when he struck a big six in his previous game. Andre McCarthy could be used as an additional option in the middle order.

Andre Russell
Andre Russell will have a big say on which way the game sways

Andre Russell is making his presence felt, scoring crucial runs at a quick pace for the Tallawahs. Russell has been maintaining a healthy strike-rate of 152 in the 2 games that he has featured in so far. Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was a bit expensive in the previous game and is yet to find his form in this tournament. Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim is making a mark for himself in the team and bowled well in his last game, conceding 18 runs in 3 overs and picking up a wicket.

Dale Steyn was smashed for 56 runs in his 4 overs against the Knight Riders and had a disappointing night. Kesrick Williams and Jon-Russ Jaggesar bowled well for the Knight Riders on a batting wicket and saved crucial runs in the end.

Probable XI:

Chris Gayle (Captain), Chadwick Walton, Kumar Sangakkara (wicket-keeper), Rovman Powell, Andre McCarthy, Andre Russell, Shakib Al Hasan, Imad Wasim, Dale Steyn, Kesrick Williams, Jon-Russ Jaggesar.

Guyana Amazon Warriors:

Martin Guptill
Guayana will look to their skipper Martin Guptill to fire at the top of the order

Dwayne Smith will most likely continue to open for the Warriors with his aggressive approach towards the new ball. Dwayne has already scored a fifty for the Warriors with a strike-rate of 162. New Zealand batsman and Warriors skipper Martin Guptill could open alongside Smith and give a good platform for the middle order to launch.

Previous game’s star performer Chris Lynn will be the key player against the Tallawahs. Jason Mohammed is coming good for the Warriors and is certainly giving the middle order a boost with his presence.

All-rounder Chris Barnwell failed to score for the Warriors and didn’t have enough deliveries to make an impact against Knight Riders. Rayad Emrit picked up the wicket of Dwayne Bravo but conceded 41 runs in his 4 overs.

Sohail Tanvir bowled extremely well against the Knight Riders, conceding only 21 runs and picking up 2 wickets in his 4 overs. Veerasammy Permaul bowled with a lot of determination for the Warriors and conceded 26 runs in his 4 overs. These two will have to be at the top of their game against the Tallawahs.

Probable XI: Dwayne Smith, Martin Guptill (Captain), Chris Lynn, Jason Mohammed, Chris Barnwell, Anthony Bramble (wicket-keeper), Rayad Emrit, Sohail Tanvir, Veerasammy Permaul, Paul Wintz.

Prediction: With Gayle in form, no target will be safe for the Warriors. Tallawahs will be favourites and the Warriors will have to do really well to get a win against them.
