CPL 2016: Guyana Amazon Warriors vs St Lucia Zouks, Live streaming, team news, prediction, probable XI

Guptill scored his first half-century of the tournament in the last match

The Guyana Amazon Warriors registered their first defeat in this season against the Trinbago Knight Riders in their previous game of the CPL 2016. Warriors skipper had opted to field first after winning the toss and would have been reasonably satisfied after restricting the Knight Riders to a par-score of 151.

The Warriors got off to a bad start after Smith lost his wicket in the first over of the chase. Though Guptill scored his first fifty in this season, the Warriors kept losing wickets at regular intervals and ended up being 7 runs short of the target.

Having played only a couple of games so far this season, the St Lucia Zouks are on the bottom of the table and their performance in the next 3 games will determine where they stand on the table. The Zouks had lost their previous game against Patriots by a huge margin of 58 runs and will have to do better than that to make a mark for themselves in this league.

Live streams:

The LIVE match can be streamed on SonyLiv and also on the official page ‘Caribbean Premier League’ through Facebook Live.

Probable Playing XI:

Guyana Amazon Warriors:

Batsmen:

After starting this season strongly, Dwayne Smith has been performing poorly at the top of the order, gathering 97 runs in 5 innings. Skipper Martin Guptill made a well-composed half-century against the Knight Riders and will be hoping to continue his form throughout this season.

No.3 batsman Chris Lynn got off to a decent start but could not carry on for the Warriors in their previous game. Lynn is the leading run-scorer for the Warriors in this season, with 175 runs in 5 matches at a strike-rate of 123. Jason Mohammed has shown a lot of promise while batting for the Warriors but hasn’t scored a big one yet in this season.

All-rounders:

West Indies all-rounder Rayad Emrit had a good game against the Knight Riders, conceding 32 runs in his 4 overs and picking up the important wickets of Anton Devcich and Colin Munro. Emrit contributed 12 runs with the bat as well in 6 deliveries, clearing the boundary on a single occasion.

Bowlers:

Pakistan seamer Sohail Tanvir had a rare off game against the Knight Riders, conceding 34 runs in 4 overs without picking up a wicket. Tanvir is just behind Adam Zampa as the leading wicket-taker so far in this season.

The Warriors will be confident as they will have the services of the top 2 leading wicket-takers this season. Steven Jacobs has been economical for the Warriors, conceding just 23 runs in 4 overs in the previous game.

Probable XI: Dwayne Smith, Martin Guptill (Captain), Chris Lynn, Jason Mohammed, Anthony Bramble (Wicket-keeper), Rayad Emrit, Sohail Tanvir, Chris Barnwell, Veerasammy Permaul, Adam Zampa, Steven Jacobs.

St Lucia Zouks:

Batsmen:

West Indies opener Johnson Charles and former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson gave the Zouks a brilliant start in their previous match with a partnership of 90 and will require a similar performance against the Warriors. Retired Australian Michael Hussey could not get going in the previous game against the Patriots, scoring 22 runs at a strike-rate of 78.

It is to be seen if the Zouks continue with Hussey or bring in someone like Keddy Lesporis to replace Hussey as the No.3 batsman. South African middle-order batsman David Miller and wicketkeeper Andre Fletcher will be rearing to go against the Warriors after failing to make an impression in the previous match.

All-rounders:

Skipper Darren Sammy was a bit expensive against the Patriots, conceding 30 runs in 3 overs while picking up the wicket of Jonathan Carter. Sammy could come useful in the lower batting order as well as he has so often done in the past for the West Indies. Kyle Mayers could get another chance to prove himself against the Warriors.

Bowlers:

South African pacer Morne Morkel was the pick of the bowlers for the Zouks in their defeat against the Patriots. Morkel’s pace and bounce could prove to be lethal against the Warriors batting unit. Derone Davis provides the Zouks an option in the spin department.

Shane Watson has been bowling well off late and will most likely be needed against the Warriors.

Probable XI: Johnson Charles, Shane Watson, Michael Hussey, Andre Fletcher (Wicket-keeper), David Miller, Darren Sammy (Captain), Kyle Mayers, Nitish Kumar, Morne Morkel, Derone Davis, Kristopher Ramsaran

Prediction: The St Lucia Zouks will start off as favorites against the Warriors and will need a win to get their campaign on track.
