CPL 2016: Jamaica Tallawahs vs Trinbago Knight Riders - live streaming, team news, probable playing XI, prediction

Chris Gayle would like to provide some fireworks with his willow for the home fans

Team News:

Jamaica Tallawahs:

The Tallawahs are comfortably placed second in the table after their dominating performances in the last few matches. The Tallawahs are coming into the game with a massive win over the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by 108 runs. After losing danger man Chris Gayle and CAK Walton early, Kumara Sangakkara steadied the innings by scoring a masterful 65.

He was well supported by Rovman Powell who scored his 35 runs at an alarming pace. Hard-hitting Andre Russell and ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan then catapulted the scoring by hitting some lusty blows towards the end of the innings.

The Tallawahs posted a mammoth 183 runs on board which would surely have taken some effort to chase down. The Jamaican pace trio of Dale Steyn, Andre Russell and Kesrick Williams were steaming hot as they ran through the Patriots top order.

Before the Patriots could recover, the spinners cast a web around them to eventually bowl them out for a paltry 75. So, the Tallawahs undoubtedly look to be the team to beat as their juggernaut continues in the CPL.

Trinbago Knight Riders:

Trinbago Knight Riders are back to winning ways after chasing down a stiff target of 172 runs against the Barbados Tridents in their last game. The Knight Riders chase was powered by the ever-consistent run machine Hashim Amla and William Perkins who provided them with the opening salvo.

Hard-hitting Kiwi batsman Colin Munro then led an onslaught by scoring a blistering 68. He was well supported by Dwayne Bravo and Denesh Ramdin who took the attack to the opposition and eventually secured victory for the Knight Riders.

The Knight Riders bowlers will have to put up a much more disciplined effort as they went for plenty against the Tridents. Ronsford Beaton was the most impressive of the Knight Riders bowlers as he put the brakes on the Tridents scoring by bowling an exceptional spell, conceding only 19 runs in his 4 overs. Meanwhile, Dwayne Bravo and Sulieman Benn scalped two wickets each.

Playing XI:

Jamaican Tallawahs

Batsmen:

Master blaster Chris Gayle has been in sensational form all through this tournament and would look to score big after missing out against the Patriots. Wicket-keeper CAK Walton needs to make a decent contribution as he has been short of runs in the last few games.

One can always expect a handy contribution by the ever dependable Kumara Sangakkara who scored 65 to lay down the platform for a big total against the Patriots. Rovman Powell looks in good touch after he provided impetus to the innings with an attacking 35-run knock.

All-rounders:

All-rounders Andre Russell and Shakib Al Hasan had a brilliant game as both first provided the fireworks with their batting and then were among the wickets to decimate the Patriots.

Bowlers:

The Tallawahs’ seam attack would be full of confidence after their superlative showing against the Patriots. Proteas pace ace Dale Steyn bowled with good rhythm against the Patriots and looks deadly upfront. Seamer Kesrick Williams who is in wicket-taking form picked up three quick wickets against the Patriots.

Meanwhile, the spinners have come to the party for the Tallawahs with Shakib Al Hassan and Imad Wasim picking up wickets regularly in the middle overs.

Probable XI – CAK Walton (Wicket-keeper), Chris Gayle (Captain), Kumara Sangakkara, Rovman Powell, Andre Russell, Shakib Al Hasan, Andre Mccarthy, Imad Wasim, Dale Steyn, Garey Mathurin, Kesrick Williams.

Trinbago Knight Riders

Hashim Amla Trinbago Knight Riders CPL 2016
Prolific Hashim Amla shall look to give the Knight Riders a solid batting platform

Batsmen:

Prolific opener Hashim Amla who scored 31 against the Tridents would once again look to lay a solid platform for the Knight Riders. Fellow opener William Perkins would also be high on confidence after his quick-fire knock of 23 runs against the Tridents.

Kiwi batsman Colin Munro looks in a destructive mood after his match-winning knock of 68 runs in the last game. Wicket-keeper Denesh Ramdin had a good game against the Tridents by scoring a few boundaries to finish off the innings. Talented Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal who did not bat in the last match would be raring to go against the Tallawahs.

All-rounders:

Star all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has been sensational with both bat and ball and a stellar performance against the Tridents would have done wonders to his confidence.

Bowlers:

Seamer Ronsford Beaton really impressed everyone with an economical spell, conceding just 19 runs off his 4 overs. Kevin Cooper would look for an improved performance after proving really expensive against the Tridents.

Sunil Narine has played his role as a frontline spinner to perfection by choking the opposition of runs. Meanwhile, Sulieman Benn has complimented Narine really well and the spin twins would like to cast a web around the Tallawahs.

Probable XI - Hashim Amla, William Perkins, Colin Munro, Dwayne Bravo (Captain), Umar Akmal, Denesh Ramdin (Wicket-keeper), AP Devcich, Kevon Cooper, Sunil Narine, Sulieman Benn, Ronsford Beaton.

Prediction:

The Tallawahs playing on their home turf would go in as favourites to win this encounter as they have been in superlative form by imposing crushing defeats on their opponents. However, they could face a stiff challenge from the Trinbago Knight Riders who are riding high on confidence after their spirited win against the Barbados Tridents.
