CPL 2016: Jamaica Tallawahs vs Guyana Amazon Warriors, live streaming, team news, probable XI, prediction
Jamaica Tallawahs’ last game of the CPL 2016 against the Barbados Tridents was called off due to bad weather. Only the first innings was played where Chris Gayle scored 47(20)*, whilst Chadwick Walton and Sangakkara played their parts with scores of 25(21) and 25(14) respectively to get their teams score to 116 in 10 overs.
Gayle will be looking to keep up the good form and Sanga will be looking to play a bigger part in the next game. As the play was stopped, the Tallawahs bowling was not tested.
Guyana Amazon Warriors won their last game with ease against St Lucia Zouks, Jason Mohammed being the man of the match. He contributed with a score of 43(29)* and bowled two overs of his off spin, giving away only a meagre 9 runs.
Dwayne Smith’s decent start and Chris Lynn at number 3 along with JN Mohammed made sure the Amazon Warriors raced to the total of 139 set by the opposition. The Warriors bowlers deserve a mention as they contained St Lucia Zouks with Sohail Tanvir, Adam Zampa, Rayad Emrit picking up 2 wickets each while Steven Jacobs and Veerasammy Perumal bowled economical spells.
Live streams:
The LIVE match can be streamed on SonyLiv and also on the official page ‘Caribbean Premier League’ through Facebook Live.
Probable Playing XI:
Jamaica Tallawahs:
Batsmen:
Skipper Chris Gayle has seemingly found his good form with a score of 47(20)* after getting out for a duck in his previous game and he will want to continue his form. Chadwick Walton, who opens alongside Gayle has been getting off to decent starts but has not been able to carry on.
Same goes for the Sri Lankan left-hander Kumar Sangakkara who hasn’t done the damage that he can do which once done cannot be undone. Rovman Powel can play sensible cricket in the middle order and provide support to the team. Alex Ross adds to their Batting prowess.
All-rounders:
Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan can provide a match-winning performance with the ball and bat on his day. The role he plays for the team is crucial. Andre McCarthy the West Indian batting all-rounder can provide some support with the ball as well. Imad Wasim was excluded in the previous game even though he performed well with the ball.
Bowlers:
The Jamaican Tallawahs Bowlers were not tested in their previous outing as play was stopped. Their Key bowler Dale Steyn will be looking to cause early damage in their next game. Garey Mathurin, the slow left armer has been in good form.
Probable XI: Chris Gayle (Captain), Chadwick Walton, Kumar Sangakkara (wicket-keeper), Rovman Powell, Alex Ross, Andre McCarthy, Shakib Al Hasan, Imad Wasim, Garey Mathurin, Dale Steyn, Kesrick Williams.
Guyana Amazon Warriors
Batsmen:
The Guyana Amazon Warriors will be dependent on their opening combination of Dwayne Smith and Martin Guptill. Smith and Guptill have provided decent starts which when carried on can cause unrepairable damage. Skipper Martin Guptill played a shaky hand in his last game.
No.3 batsman Chris Lynn gave yet another good performance when he supported Jason Mohammed in helping the Warriors chase the target of 139. Mohammed played a match-winning performance for the Warriors in the last game.
Chris Barnwell and Anthony Bramble were involved in the middle order collapse against the Patriots and the Warriors will hope that they will come good against Jamaica Tallawahs.
All-rounders:
Rayad Emrit has been in good form this tournament getting important wickets for his team. In the last game, he bowled three overs and picked up the important wickets of Mike Hussey and Darren Sammy. Jason Mohammed bowled an economical 2 overs against St Lucia Zouks giving away 9 runs.
Bowlers:
Pakistan seamer Sohail Tanvir and Steven Jacobs have been fantastic so far for the Warriors. Leggie Adam Zampa has been improving his reputation of picking up wickets at regular intervals with each game.
Veerasammy Permaul has been good throughout this tournament and will be expected to do well against the Knight Riders.
Probable XI: Dwayne Smith, Martin Guptill (Captain), Chris Lynn, Jason Mohammed, Chris Barnwell, Anthony Bramble (Wicket-keeper), Rayad Emrit, Sohail Tanvir, Steven Jacobs, Adam Zampa, Veerasammy Permaul.
Prediction:
Both sides are evenly matched and both teams on their day can cause damage. With Chris Gayle, the Tallawahs will have the upper hand.
