CPL 2016: St Lucia Zouks vs Barbados Tridents, Live Streaming, Team News, Probable XI, Prediction

The Zouks celebrate the fall of a wicket against the Patriots

The St Lucia Zouks emerged victorious against the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in their previous Caribbean Premier League match by 35 runs. Johnson Charles and Michael Hussey got starts but it was skipper Darren Sammy who stole the show, scoring 59 runs in 35 deliveries including 5 sixes and a couple of boundaries. The Patriots could manage only 139 runs in their 20 overs with skipper Faf du Plessis top-scoring with 48 runs. Jerome Taylor was the pick of the bowlers for the Zouks, picking up 2 wickets while conceding just 19 runs in his 4 overs.

The Barbados Tridents were defeated by the Jamaica Tallawahs by 36 runs in their previous game. The Tridents had won the toss and put the Tallawahs into bat first. Opener Chadwick Walton missed out on a century for the Tallawahs, scoring 97 runs in 54 deliveries. The Tridents were set a target 196 in a rain-affected match. Nicholas Pooran gave yet another strong performance, scoring 51 runs in 15 deliveries but could not help the Tridents reach the target in the end.

Probable Playing XI:

St Lucia Zouks:

Batsmen:

Veteran Australian Cricketer Michael Hussey is the top-scorer for the Zouks so far in this season, scoring 145 in 5 innings at a strike-rate of 108. The Zouks will hope for the other batsmen as well to start contributing along with Hussey.

Opener Johnson Charles got off to a promising start in the previous game, scoring 25 runs in 14 deliveries but was dismissed soon after that. David Miller continued his poor form in the previous game against the Patriots and will need to start scoring runs for the Zouks. Andre Fletcher has gathered only 66 runs in 5 matches with a  disappointing high score of 23.

All-rounders:

Shane Watson is the highest wicket-taker for the Zouks in this season so far with 7 wickets in 5 matches but has not done justice to his batting abilities. Skipper Darren Sammy gave a match-winning performance against the Patriots in the previous game with both the bat and the ball.

Bowlers:

Jerome Taylor and Morne Morkel have been doing a great job leading the bowling attack for the Zouks, keeping things tight in the powerplay period and also picking up crucial wickets of the top order batsmen.

Probable XI: Johnson Charles, Andre Fletcher (Wicket-keeper), Shane Watson, Michael Hussey, David Miller, Darren Sammy (Captain), Keddy Lesporis, Delorn Johnson, Shane Shillingford, Jerome Taylor, Morne Morkel.

Barbados Tridents:

Batsmen:

A huge blow was dealt to the Tridents as their star players, AB de Villiers and Wayne Parnell were recalled by Cricket South Africa as they are hosting an awards ceremony. AB de Villiers is currently the highest run-getter for the Tridents in this season and the Tridents will need to find a suitable replacement. The good news, however, is that wicket-keeper Nicholas Pooran is doing a great job in the batting department and needs to continue his form for the Tridents in the absence of de Villiers.

All-rounders:

Skipper Kieron Pollard had a disappointing game against the Tallawahs and will be looking to improve his performance and play to the best of his best of his abilities. David Wiese is another recognised all-rounder in the team and has picked up 4 wickets in 5 matches.

Bowlers:

Ravi Rampaul is the highest wicket-taker for the Tridents currently in this season, picking up 11 wickets in 7 games at an acceptable economy rate of 8.3 runs per over. The Tridents will need some bowler to step up for them in the absence of Wayne Parnell and lead the bowling attack with Rampaul.

Probable XI: Kyle Hope, Ahmed Shehzad, Shoaib Malik, Nicholas Pooran (wicket-keeper), Kieron Pollard (Captain), Akeal Hosein, David Wiese, Ashley Nurse, Raymon Reifer, Navin Stewart, Ravi Rampaul.

Prediction: With a depleted Tridents unit, the St Lucia Zouks will be expected to cruise through the Tridents.
