CPL 2016: St Lucia Zouks vs Guyana Amazon Warriors, Live Streaming, Team News, Probable XI, Prediction

Shakib Al Hasan was awarded the Man of the Match for his all-round performance in the last match

The St Lucia Zouks tasted success in their previous match against the Barbados Tridents in CPL 2016, beating them by 7 wickets. Skipper Darren Sammy bowled beautifully for the Zouks and played a major role in restricting the Tridents to a total of 137 in 20 overs.

Due to the interference of rain, the Zouks had to chase a target of 131 in 19 overs and did so with 15 balls remaining. Openers Johnson Charles and Andre Fletcher gave a solid start for the Zouks and made sure they achieved the target.

The Guyana Amazon Warriors were beaten in their previous game by the Jamaica Tallawahs by 5 wickets. The Warriors set a low target of 129 for the Tallawahs to achieve in 20 overs with Jason Mohammed top-scoring with an unbeaten 46. In spite of Sohail Tanvir’s inspiring bowling, the Tallawahs chased the target with ease in the end.

Shakib Al Hasan was awarded the Man of the Match for his all-round performance.

Probable Playing XI:

St Lucia Zouks:

Batsmen:

Openers Johnson Charles and Andre Fletcher ensured that the Zouks did not face any troubles while chasing the target set by the Barbados Tridents. This will greatly instill confidence into the Zouks batting department ahead of the game against the Warriors.

Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson came in to bat at the No.3 position and showed glimpses of getting into form with the bat. Though South African batsman David Miller did not get much time to bat, he did hit a couple of good shots and will be rearing to face the Warriors.

All-rounders:

Skipper Darren Sammy is doing a fantastic job for the Zouks in the batting and the bowling department. Sammy has been scoring at a strike-rate of 155 and has picked up 5 wickets in 6 matches so far in this season. Watson played a crucial role in the previous game, picking up a couple of wickets for 29 runs in 4 overs.

Bowlers:

Jerome Taylor’s consistency in the bowling attack has largely helped the Zouks and has picked up 5 wickets in 3 matches this season. Morne Morkel was a touch expensive in the previous game and will be expected to bounce back against the Warriors.

Probable XI: Johnson Charles, Andre Fletcher (Wicket-keeper), Shane Watson, David Miller, Michael Hussey, Darren Sammy (Captain), Keddy Lesporis, Shane Shillingford, Delorn Johnson, Jerome Taylor, Morne Morkel.

Guyana Amazon Warriors:

Batsmen:

Both the openers, Dwayne Smith, and Martin Guptill, could not get going for the Amazon Warriors, adding only 8 runs for the first wicket. No.3 batsman, Chris Lynn provided some relief, scoring 33 runs in 18 deliveries but could not keep the Warriors from faltering to a below-par total of 128.

Jason Mohammed was the only other batsman keeping the Warriors innings together for 20 overs, scoring 46 runs in 51 deliveries. Wicket-keeper Anthony Bramble was disappointing in the previous game and should look to do well against the Zouks.

All-rounders:

Chris Barnwell has been in miserable form for the Warriors, scoring just 23 runs in 7 innings and has not been used in the bowling department. Barnwell’s chances will need to get himself together and score some runs for the Warriors. Smith could be another option for Guptill to utilise in the bowling department.

Bowlers:

Sohail Tanvir is currently the leading wicket-taker in the entire league for this season, picking up 13 wickets in 7 games at an economy rate of below 6 runs per over. With Emrit and Zampa in the bowling department, the Warriors should be comfortable when they face the Zouks batting unit.

Probable XI: Dwayne Smith, Martin Guptill (Captain), Chris Lynn, Anthony Bramble (Wicket-keeper), Chris Barnwell, Jason Mohammed, Veerasammy Permaul, Sohail Tanvir, Rayad Emrit, Ali Khan, Adam Zampa.

Prediction: Both teams are evenly matched but the Warriors have a slight edge when it comes to their bowling unit and will look to use that against the Zouks.
