5 uncapped Indian players who could be picked for the Bangladesh ODI series
In June 2015, India's tour of Bangladesh returns, for one Test match and three ODIs. The schedule for the tour is set as compact as possible, with only 1 Test match, which will be played at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali stadium in Fatullah and then all three one-day matches at Sher-e-Bangla stadium in Mirpur, on 18th, 21st and 24th June.
However, it is expected that the Indian selectors would be looking to pick some youngsters for the ODI series and give a much-needed rest to the senior players who have constantly been busy playing cricket since the tour of Australia.
Here is a list of 5 Indian uncapped players who could be picked for the ODI series against Bangladesh:
5. Yuzvendra Chahal
Young leg-spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal plays for Haryana in domestic cricket. He has been the go-to spinner for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League as he has the knack of picking wickets at crucial intervals. Prior to his induction into the RCB squad, Chahal played for Mumbai Indians and was one of the integral cogs in scripting their win in the Champions League T20, back in 2011.
The 24-year-old has scalped 27 wickets in the 25 matches he has played so far in the IPL. If Ravichandran Ashwin or Ravindra Jadeja is rested, Chahal would have a very strong chance of making it to the squad. Chahal could well be the answer to India’s search to find a genuine leg-spinner.
4. Karun Nair
Karnataka’s talented middle-order batsman Karun Nair will definitely be on the selectors’ radar as he has performed exceedingly well in the 2014-15 Ranji Trophy season, scoring 709 runs in 10 matches at an average of 43. He also became the second player in Ranji Trophy history to score a triple hundred in the final, when he scored 328 runs against Tamil Nadu at the Wankhede stadium.
Nair was successful for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL last season (2014) as he went on to score 330 runs in 11 matches at an average of 33. In the current season (2015), Nair scored 61 off only 38 balls that propelled RR to a big score against Delhi Daredevils.
