Ahmed Shehzad furious with Pakistan team management

Ahmed Shahzad performed quite well in the recently concluded PSL season

Talented Pakistani batsman Ahmed Shehzad has expressed his displeasure over being dropped from the national squad for the Asia Cup and the World Twenty20.

Speaking to Pakistan's ARY News ahead of the India-Pakistan Asia Cup clash, the youngster claimed that he had been performing well over the past few years and it is unfair on the team management's part to exclude him. Shehzad said, "I don’t understand the reason of dropping an established player after a bad performance in one or two series."

Showing his uncertainty over the selection criteria, the stylish batsman commented, "If performance was the only criteria then I should have been selected. I've performed well in the last three and a half years."

Shehzad has not been performing too badly with the bat in the recent past as he scored 290 runs in the inaugural edition of the Pakistan Super League. On what he feels about his performances, the right-handed batsman said, "A player's form can fluctuate, but ability is something that always remains consistent. I am not disappointed; I am very much satisfied with my performances."

Ahmed Shehzad is known to have a close association with Pakistan's T20I skipper, Shahid Afridi. However, when asked about the message he wanted to give to the veteran cricketer, the 24-year old dryly said, "The team has been picked according to their (management and captain) wish and good luck to them."
