Cricket Australia issues an apology for indecent tweet
Cricket Australia has issued an apology for issuing a crudely-phrased tweet from their account in reaction to England batsman Ian Bell‘s surviving a caught behind decision on day three of Lord’s test.
Bell sliced Ryan Harris to Smith in the gully. It looked like Smith had taken a clean low catch. However, since Bell stood his ground, the umpires sought the assistance of third umpire, Tony Hill for clarification. But Tony Hill inexplicably ruled him not out after watching the video, adding to the frustration of the Australian players who were already finding it difficult to make inroads into the England batting line up.
Amidst this chaos, there came a shockingly rude and out of the line tweet from the official CA Twitter account: “That decision sucked ass #bulls***”.
The tweet was soon deleted and followed up with an apology from the account. The tweet read:
Apologies for the inappropriate tweet earlier regarding the Bell catch. It didn’t emanate from CA’s official Twitter presence at Lord’s.
