Kane Williamson wins Sir Richard Hadlee Medal at NZC Awards

Kane Williamson was named Player of the Year at the New Zealand Cricket Awards

Ace New Zealand batsman Kane Williamson has added yet another feather to his cap by winning the prestigious Sir Richard Hadlee medal at the New Zealand Cricket Awards ceremony. Williamson received this honour for being named Player of the Year.

The prolific batsman achieved a coveted treble as he also managed to bag the Test Player of the Year award and the Redpath Cup for a stellar performance in first-class cricket. The year 2015 was a phenomenal one for Kane Williamson as he performed brilliantly across all three formats of the game.

Since the start of 2015, Williamson scored 1314 runs at an incredible average of 77.29, including 5 centuries and a top score of 242 not out against Sri Lanka at Wellington in Tests alone. Overall, he scored 3339 international runs in 53 matches with as many as 8 hundreds. One of the highlights of the classy Kiwi batsman's year was his streak of 7 consecutive half centuries in ODI cricket.

Among other big winners at the New Zealand Cricket Awards was Martin Guptill who was the recipient of the limited-overs honours. Guptill bagged a double as he was named ODI Player of the Year as well as T20I Player of the Year.

The New Zealand ODI opener has been in exemplary touch since the beginning of 2015 and has scored 1891 ODI runs at a mind-boggling average of 55.61 and a high score of 237 not out, the best ever in a World Cup match. 

The leader of the New Zealand pace attack, Trent Boult, did not go empty handed either. He received the Winsor Cup award for his fine bowling performance in first-class cricket.

New Zealand Women skipper Suzie Bates was bestowed with the Woman's Player of the Year honour, while her teammate won Domestic Women's Player of the Year award.
