Cricket South Africa logo needs a changeover, says Olympic committee President
Cricket South Africa (CSA) faces a situation that may force them to remove the national flag from its logo after the South Africa Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee’s (SASCOC) President Gideon Sam voiced against its usage.
According to him, the flag is "only symbol for national sports teams" and "no other combination is allowed."
It can be noted that the South African flag is used on top of the board’s logo. If the CSA doesn’t take necessary steps to remove the flag by the end of South Africa’s ongoing tour of Sri Lanka, the board will be in danger of facing a ban as per the committee’s rules and regulations. Such a move will block South Africa’s participation in international events in cricket.
The President made it clear that they are not concerned where they move the flag on the cricket jersey but it needs to be moved from the CSA logo: "If they don't do it, then we'll act against them," stated Sam.
South Africa, under their new Test captain Hashim Amla, will play the first of two Test matches against hosts Sri Lanka on July 16.
