Cricket South Africa to lose $29m if India tour shortens
According to media reports, Cricket South Africa could lose up to $29m in total if the India tour scheduled for later this year is shortened.
However, the CSA will not be able to take the matter to court as India is yet to sign the ICC Future Tours Programme.
The plan of CSA as announced was to host India for three Tests, seven ODIs and two T20 matches between November 18 and January 25, but the BCCI is yet to confirm or deny the tour.
Along with this, the BCCI announced yesterday that the Indian team will host West Indies in November and would tour New Zealand in January. This would effectively cut short the CSA’s planned series and thereby cost the South African board a loss of 244,575 USD a day in revenue.
CSA has refused to comment on the situation but ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat confirmed that he will visit India and resolve the issue.
