Pandey’s heroics drew praise from all quarters

Manish Pandey’s maiden ODI century, which broke a national record, helped India avert a whitewash in the ODI series against Australia and earned the young batsman plenty of praise from all quarters.

Pandey, who was only playing in his fourth ODI, scored a composed century and along with MS Dhoni ensured India successfully chased down Australia's 330 after both openers, Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma got them off to the perfect start.

The 26-year-old, who has been on the fringes of the Indian set-up for a while now only played in this match due to Ajinkya Rahane’s injury will be hoping that his century will cement his place in the side for the next series.
