Cricketers take to Twitter to celebrate Eid

The cricketing fraternity took to social media platform Twitter to celebrate the festival of Eid.

Eid al-Adha also called the "Sacrifice Feast", is the second of two Muslim holidays celebrated worldwide each year, and considered the holier of the two. It honours the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son, as an act of submission to God's command, before God then intervened sending his angel Jibra'il (Gabriel) to inform him that his sacrifice had already been accepted. The meat from the sacrificed animal is divided into three parts. The family retains one-third of the share; another third is given to relatives, friends and neighbours; and the remaining third is given to the poor and needy.

This auspicious festival is celebrated all over the globe.

Let us take a look at a few tweets posted by cricketers around the world, celebrating these auspicious days with their loved ones.

Umesh Yadav and Shikhar Dhawan, current members of the Indian squad expressed their wishes on Twitter.

Former Pakistani cricketer, Mohammad Yousuf and current England cricketer, Moeen Ali wished us all a prosperous Eid.

A few of the IPL stars, too, expressed themselves on twitter. Both Tabraiz Shamsi and Iqbal Abdullah play for the Royal Challengers Bangalore side and have enjoyed reasonable success.

Here is the king of twitter, Virender Sehwag wishing us all for Eid and Onam as well, which is tomorrow. Sehwag is usually known for his quirky tweets, usually on players’ birthdays.

The Indian coach and former test  captain Anil Kumble, too, took to twitter to wish us all a prosperous Eid.

The official Chennai Super Kings Twitter handle expressed themselves as well. CSK are currently suspended from playing in the IPL, but they hope to make their way back soon.

While the players wished their fans on the occasion, a few were involved in a friendly conversation too. Robin Uthappa was well aware of the fact that there is a lot of tasty food which is prepared by those who celebrate Eid. So he took to twitter to wish Irfan and Yusuf Pathan and had a request for him as well.

Irfan Pathan was quick to reply to the tweet, and he showed us his funny side as well as he made fun of his former teammate.
